Parliamentary election in Cuba 2018

The 2018 parliamentary elections in Cuba took place on March 11, 2018. 8.4 million eligible voters elected 612 members of the National Assembly and 1269 delegates at the provincial level.

In the morning, 30,000 polling stations opened nationwide. Since Cuba has a one-party system which is ruled by the Communist Party , the election was not free . Candidates nominated by the local parliaments and the mass organizations stood for election. They ran for the direct mandates of the constituencies. Almost all candidates are party members. Every Cuban citizen was allowed to vote from the age of 16 and be elected from the age of 18.

The previous president Raúl Castro did not run for a new term.
