Professional career

In September 2003 he also won against former WBO world championship challenger Leonard Townsend.

In January 2004 he won the NABO light middleweight title by knocking out the previously undefeated Sherwin Davis and defended him in May 2004 by unanimous decision against Anthony Bonsante. He then became a participant in the first season of "The Contender", a reality TV show on NBC . There he lost his first fight on points against Alfonso Gómez , but then defeated the later WBC / WBO World Championship challenger Miguel Espino, the undefeated Joey Gilbert and in a rematch Alfonso Gómez. He had thus qualified for the season finals, which he lost on May 24, 2005 on points against the eventual WBC world champion Sergio Mora . Five months later he was also defeated in the rematch at "The Contender Special" against Mora by split point decision.

In 2006 he prevailed ahead of time against future IBF World Cup challenger Scott Pemberton and the undefeated Joe Spina. Set by the WBO at number 6 in their world rankings of super middleweight, he received on April 7, 2007 at the age of 26 a title fight against the undefeated WBO world champion Joe Calzaghe . Manfredo lost in the fight at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff but was controversial due to the referee dropping out in the third round (TKO).

In June 2007 he won against David Banks, a participant in the third season of "The Contender", but lost in December of the same year on points to former IBF World Champion Jeff Lacy , who had lost his title in 2006 to Joe Calzaghe. In November 2008 he lost by TKO in the third round against Sakio Bika .

On January 29, 2010 he secured the NABF middleweight title against Matt Vanda and on May 22, 2010 the IBO world middleweight title against Ángel Hernández.

On November 19, 2011 he boxed against the undefeated title holder Julio Chavez for the WBC middleweight title, but was defeated by TKO in the fifth round. After a year off from the ring, he played three victorious fights before not being in the ring again in 2014 and 2015.
