Parlando

Parlando ( Italian , "talking") is a musical performance designation . It is fast singing, similar to spoken chant , with well-articulated pronunciation and a light tone, while paying close attention to the rhythm . This stylistic device is particularly popular in opera buffa ("comic opera") in every voice range.

In instrumental music , the instruction parlando requires a speaking, expressive performance.
