Parnas (Judaism)

Parnas (plural Parnasim , Talmudic Hebrew - Aramaic ) denotes the head of a Jewish community . The term was reproduced in German from around the 16th to at least the middle of the 19th century with "predecessor" or "Vorgeher". In francs at that time was westjiddische and derived from Parnas Terminus Barno usual. In the early modern period, the Parnas was responsible for mediating between the Jewish communities and the sovereigns. Some of the Parnasim were installed by the respective prince.
