Moped rodeo

The Moped Rodeo is an annual moped rally that covers around 1000 km on a moped in 7 days. The rally was held for the first time in 2018 and led through northern Italy, and in the following year it went along the Adriatic to Zadar in Croatia. At the moped rodeo, speed doesn't matter. At the start, each participant receives a "road book" with route suggestions and tasks to be completed along the way. The team that has collected the most points by solving the daily tasks will win the rally. The regulations for participation in the moped rodeo stipulate that the mopeds must not have more than 50 cm 3 cubic capacity and must be at least 20 years old. The Moped Rodeo is organized by the BackRoadClub, along with other rallies such as the Pothole Rodeo, Europe-Africa-Rodeo and Boat Rodeo.

The moped rodeo takes place annually in September, parallel to the " European Bike Week " at Lake Faak. The start and finish of the rally is Velden am Wörthersee . Each day's stage begins with a "checkpoint", at which a list is made of which teams are still in the race. In addition, there is the "morning post" at the checkpoint, an envelope for each team in which the current daily task and the coordinates for the next checkpoint are contained. The rally extends over seven daily stages, each around 100–120 km long, and ends with a finish line and a final party with an award ceremony in Velden am Wörthersee.

route

The route changes every year. In 2018 the route ran from Velden am Wörthersee via Udine , Schio , Lazise , Bologna and Chioggia to Gorizia (Görz) and back to Velden . The Moped Rodeo 2019 led from Velden via Grado , the island of Cres to Zadar and inland via Rastoke and Postojna back to Velden. The planned route for 2020 leads from Velden via Gorizia (Görz) and Malinska on the island of Krk to anch Knin and then back via Rastoke and Laško to Velden.

Charitable cause

Even if collecting donations for a charity is not a condition of participation, many participants have made it their business to do something good and have raised funds for various charitable organizations. At the first moped rodeo in 2018, the winning team "Rocky Road Lovers" collected a four-digit amount for the Austrian leukemia aid "Give for Life" and the team "Laki" was able to hand over a record donation of 6940 euros to a family in Spielberg.
