Parnassos (Cappadocia)

Parnassos was an ancient city in the Asian region of Cappadocia near today's Parlasan in Turkey.

Parnassos, at the intersection of two important roads, was the place where 180 BC. The armies of Pergamon and Cappadocia met for a campaign against Pharnakes I of Pontus . In late antiquity it was the seat of a bishop; The titular Parnassus of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese .
