The Karelian Museum in the rune village of Parppeinvaara (Parppeinvaaran Runokylä) is an open-air museum in Ilomantsi , the easternmost municipality in Finland . You can visit historical buildings - including a rune singer's hut with exhibitions, traditional music, a craft shop and an Orthodox chapel.

Another attraction is the border general's hut. She served Major General Erkki Raapana, commander of the 14th Division, in the war years 1941-1944 as a command post and accommodation on the Rukajärvi front in Russian Karelia . After the war the log cabin was moved from Raappana to Finland and built as a hunting lodge on the beach of Lake Suomujärvi in Lieska. In 1984 the hut was relocated to Parppeinvaara as a historical landmark. Inside there is an exhibition on Erkki Raappana about the time of the Second World War.
