The Taksim Alman Hastanesi is a health care institution in the Cihangir district in the former Turkish capital of Istanbul , which was founded by Germans in Turkey in 1852 .
The hospital was founded in 1852 by three nurses who worked in the spirit of the German pastor Theodor Fliedner . King Friedrich Wilhelm IV donated 2,000 thalers to the hospital. The Prussian state, the German Reich and, as its legal successor, the Federal Republic of Germany have continuously supported the hospital financially.
From 1973 the hospital was no longer managed by a German chief physician. However, the hospital often made losses, because of the property and building of which the Foundation of the Graduates of German-speaking Istanbul Lisesi was donated. The foundation then rented the hospital to the Universal Hospitals Group
After the takeover by the Universal Hospitals Group, the hospital was renovated for 3 years and only reopened in 1995. The hospital has over 300 beds.
