Parry Mitchell, Baron Mitchell
Parry Andrew Mitchell, Mitchell Baron (* 6. May 1943 ) is a British businessman , politician of the Labor Party and Life Peer .
life and career
Mitchell was born on May 6, 1943 to Leon Mitchell. He attended London University and the Graduate School of Business of Columbia University , which he with a MBA graduated.
As an entrepreneur, he worked in the field of information technology. He was involved in the establishment of three companies that became market leaders at home and abroad.
From 1976 to 1987 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the United Leasing plc . From 1992 to 2006 he was chairman of Syscap plc . He started there with 5 employees, and now there are almost 200 employees. He has been with the elearning Foundation and Weizmann UK since 2006 .
He is currently (September 2012) also Chairman ( Chair ) and member of the Trustee ( Trustee ) of the Coexistence Trust since 2008. He is a member of the Trustee Board of the Genesis Research Trust and the Lowy Mitchell Foundation .
Mitchell is patron ( saint ) of Jewish Care and World Jewish Relief .
Membership in the House of Lords
Mitchell was born on 10 May 2000 concerning life peer as Baron Mitchell, of Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden appointed and his official introduction to the House of Lords took place on 24 May 2000 with the support of Margaret Jay and Michael Levy, Baron Levy .
He gave his inaugural address on December 7, 2000 at the Address in Reply to Her Majesty's Most Gracious Speech . Shortly before, both his father Leon and his in-laws, Professor Jack Lowy and Ruth Lowy, had died.
He lists information technology, small business, external affairs, education and alcohol abuse as topics of political interest on the House of Lords website. He mentions Israel and the USA as states of interest .
He spoke out in the following years on the topics of child abuse, Afghanistan , the Middle East, Victor Bout and alcohol abuse.
Since 2012 he has been the opposition spokesman for business, innovation and skills.
