Partimes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The partimen ( prov. Partimen "division, dilemma ") is a lyrical genre of trobadord poetry of the Middle Ages. The controversial poem, related to the Italian Tenzone , was mostly written by two poets together. It is modeled on the old French Jeu parti and is therefore also called Joc partit .

The topic, which came mainly from the field of love , was set up in the Partimen at the beginning in the form of a dilemmatic question and discussed from the point of view of two alternatives in a sung contest. However, there was no final decision. Partimen was cultivated between the late 12th and the end of the 13th century. However, the name still appears sporadically in manuscripts in the 14th century. A comparable form is the Italian Contrasto . In German-language minnesang , there were no comparable genres beyond the tradition of the controversial poem.
