Parure

A parure (from fr. Parure de bijoux ) is a jewelry combination , the individual parts of which are coordinated in terms of design and choice of materials. Paruras emerged in Europe during the 17th century and were important status symbols for the lady of the class.

A parure consists of at least:

• Aigrette or diadem
• Earrings
• a necklace
• bracelet
• brooch

Extended parures also contain a finger ring and belt buckle . Depending on the type of occasion, the complete, so-called grande parure or the demi-parure made up of earrings and brooch was worn.
