Pascal Adolphe Dagnan-Bouveret
Pascal Adolphe Jean Dagnan , called Dagnan-Bouveret (born January 7, 1852 in Paris , † July 3, 1929 in Quincey , Haute-Saône ) was a French painter .
He was the son of the tailor Bernard Dagnan. When his father emigrated to Brazil in 1868 , he stayed with his maternal grandfather, Henry Bouveret. In his honor he later changed his name to "Dagnan-Bouveret".
Dagnan-Bouveret entered the studio of Jean-Léon Gérôme as a pupil , where he met Jean Lecomte du Noüy and also attended the class of Alexandre Cabanel . In 1876 he was awarded the 2nd Prix de Rome . He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1875. His honors include being elected member of the Académie des beaux-arts in Paris in 1900 and honorary member (Hon. RA) of the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1908.
At the age of 77 he died on July 3, 1929 in Quincey, Haute-Saône.
