Pass a Loutre

The Pass-à-l'outre Wildlife Management Area is a wildlife sanctuary south of Plaquemines Parish at the mouth of the Mississippi River . The center is about 18 miles southeast of Venice . The area is only accessible by water. It belongs to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and covers 465 km².

The area is characterized by river arms and canals. It is known for its large population of water birds and migratory bird populations. Hunting is approved in a controlled manner. Large fish stocks and spawning grounds for a number of native fish make the area attractive for amateur fishermen.
