Parsnip puree ( Mashed parsnips ) is a side dish of English cuisine with a typically spicy, sweet taste. It is mainly served with grilled or roasted meat.

For preparation, parsnip roots are cut into pieces, cooked very soft in meat stock, pureed, seasoned with salt , pepper and nutmeg and finished with butter .

Similar purees can also be made from parsley roots or celeriac .
