Main pastors in Hamburg
In Hamburg, the main pastors were in charge of the Hamburg regional church before the North Elbe Church was founded . The Hamburg bishop (until 1933 " senior ", then called " regional bishop ") was elected by the regional synod from among the five main pastors. The senior pastor held the title "Senior" from 1933 and was the representative of the regional bishop. The five main pastors were also responsible for taking the theological exams in Hamburg. With the dissolution of the Hamburg Regional Church in 1977 and the founding of the North Elbian Church, the office of senior was abolished and the main pastors lost the privilege of holding exams. Only the title remains.
The Hamburg main pastors are summarized in the list of Hamburg main pastors .
