Patent

In the case of an infection by a parasite, the patent describes the length of time from the start of excretion or the appearance of larvae to the last date of excretion. The patent is the period in which the host is contagious as the excretor . It follows prepatency and, depending on the parasite, can last between a few days and a few years.
