Pater und Nun is the name of a rock formation made of mass limestone in the Oestrich district of Iserlohn . The natural rock monument consists of two 60 m high towers. The Grürmannshöhle , which is around five meters long today, is also located here .

According to legend, a monk and a nun lived here together without taking off their white monastic robes. When they threw a warning bishop into the Lenne , the two were struck by lightning and turned to stone.

The rocks have been shown in the Iserlohn landscape plan since 1997 as part of the Burgberg nature reserve (NSG). As early as 1995, it was temporarily secured as the NSG Burgberg. In the protected area, the rocks Pater and Nun are on the southern edge of the eastern part of the area. In the Iserlohn landscape plan, the NSG Burgberg listed under “Special protection purpose” “to secure the cliffs in question”. The rocks may not be entered or climbed, because according to the "General Prohibitions" of the Iserlohn landscape plan, areas outside of paths may not be entered.
