Patria Para Todos (PPT; German  Heimatland für alle ) is a left-wing political party in Venezuela that was founded in 1997. The majority of its members are former trade unionists .

history

The PPT came about when the strongest supporters of the Caracazos split off from the La Causa Radical . Immediately after the foundation, she joined Hugo Chávez and formed the Polo Patriótico ( German Patriotic Pole ) with his MVR and other, smaller parties .

In 2000, however, she resigned from this coalition, as there was no agreement on the selection of candidates for the elections (both the president and the mayors and governors). Despite this resignation, she did not alliance with the opposition. Two years later, it reunited with the MVR and together with it forms the Bloque del Cambio (German: Block of Change ).

In the elections on December 4, 2005, she won 11 of the 167 seats in the National Assembly.

The best-known member of the party was Alí Rodríguez Araque , who was also President of OPEC , but joined the PSUV in 2007 .

The party basically supported President Chavez's political course, but criticized his style of government. As a result, she ran in the parliamentary elections in 2010 as an independent force, but only achieved two mandates, which was partly due to the introduction of majority voting rights.
