Patrick Chinamasa

Patrick Antony Chinamasa (born January 25, 1947 in what was then Southern Rhodesia ) is a Zimbabwean politician. He is a leading member of the ZANU party and has been Minister of Finance of Zimbabwe since 2013 , having previously held the post of Justice Minister from 2000 to 2013.

As a close confidante of former President Robert Mugabe , who was ousted by the military in November 2017, Chinamasa is held jointly responsible for the economic and political situation in Zimbabwe. The US has him and his family on the sanctions list for members of dictatorial regimes . Chinamasa is also finance minister in President Mnangagwa's new cabinet .

Chinamasa belongs to the Shona people .
