The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons ( SDN for short ) is a US embargo that, in addition to sanctions against terrorists or members of dictatorial regimes, also includes crimes such as B. Includes drug trafficking . Thousands of companies, organizations, associations or individuals worldwide are on a blacklist that could pose a risk to national security as well as to the foreign and economic policy of the USA and are therefore sanctioned.

application

The SDN must be observed by US citizens and not US citizens or companies who work with products that are "subject to EAR" (Export Administration Regulations). The SDN is particularly important when exporting goods from the USA or re-exporting them. Since the areas of application vary greatly from sanction to sanction, a general statement about the applicability is not possible.

The competent authority is the Office of Foreign Assets Control .
