Patrick O'Byrne

Patrick O'Byrne (* 1955 in Dublin ) is a pianist .

Life

O'Byrne was born in Dublin and raised in New Zealand . B. Mus. at the University of Auckland . Pianistic training with Janetta McStay , Kendall Taylor , Brigitte Wild and Vlado Perlemuter . In London he received a scholarship from the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council of New Zealand and in Germany DAAD scholarship 1982–84. 1984 graduated soloist class with distinction at the Musikhochschule Freiburg with Rosa Sabater and Tibor Hazay .

Awards at international competitions José Iturbi, Tokyo, Jaén, Dudley etc. International recognition for his interpretations a. a. contemporary, French a. Spanish music. Countless appearances in world centers, soloist with u. a. the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Symphony, Bochumer Sinfoniker, New York Virtuosi under conductors such as Sir Charles Groves , Franz-Paul Decker, Kenneth Klein, Albert Rosen. Masterclasses in the USA, South America, Asia and Europe; Juror at major competitions. Numerous television, radio and CD recordings. His repertoire includes every style.

1985 professor at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart ; from 2000 Vice Rector. Since April 2002 professor for piano at the University of the Arts Bremen as well as liaison professor at the HfK Bremen for the PE-Förderkreis , a non-profit association for the promotion of musically gifted people.
