Patrol rider

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since Army XXI , the train and veterinary troops of the Swiss Army have had the option of special training for patrol riders .

education

The candidates are generally determined in the first three weeks of the recruiting school with the veterinary troops in the competence center for veterinary service and army animals . In the fourth week the first selection and a first large training take place. If you are still there after this special week, you will have the special training to become a patrol rider during the remaining 14 weeks in addition to the normal military training. This includes riding lessons in dressage , jumping and association riding, endurance rides, extended guard duty and operational exercises . The professional training includes, among other things, the compilation of the full pack of the orderly saddle and its dismantling. Training on residual light amplifiers , radios , map theory, etc.

commitment

The patrol riders can be used for site surveillance. Be it in Germany or along the national border. The riders can be four or two. "No direct contact with a suspect" is the principle. The task only consists of observing and reporting, whereby the Freiberg horse is a very good and effective means of doing this.

equipment

The equipment consists of the orderly saddle with full pack, bridle and field halter for the horse. The rider's equipment consists of a basic carrying unit , but without a protective mask pocket , riding or steel helmet and assault rifle (stowed in the rifle holster).
