Paul Maier

Paul Maier (born March 3, 1928 ) is a former German soccer player .

The right defender played his first games for the first team at VfB Stuttgart in 1944 . In 1950 Maier became German champions for the first time with the Swabians . On June 8, 1952, Maier injured himself in the 3-1 victory of VfB Stuttgart against VfL Osnabrück in the final group game of the final round of the 1952 German championship after just 10 minutes. When his teammates decided the final against 1. FC Saarbrücken for VfB two weeks later , he became German champion for the second time. In the Oberliga Süd , Paul Maier made a total of 49 appearances for Stuttgart.
