Paul Reiter (entomologist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Reiter is a British scientist and professor of medical entomology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris . He became known to a wider public through his criticism of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

After 22 years of research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most recently as head of the dengue fever department , Reiter was appointed to the newly created chair for medical entomology at the Pasteur Institute in 2003. He is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society .

In public, Reiter argues that the term tropical diseases is incorrect:

"Insect-borne diseases are not diseases of climate but of poverty."

"The diseases transmitted by insects are not climate diseases, but poverty diseases."

- Thesis on the 1998 lecture at the Competitive Enterprise Institute , formulated by Marlo Lewis Jr.

Reiter contributed to reports by the IPCC to investigate whether the spread of malaria is being promoted by climate change . However, he withdrew his contributions; however, the IPCC kept his name on the list of authors.

Before the US Senate , Reiter said on April 25, 2006 that the scientific debate was being conducted by politically influenced bodies such as the IPCC. The work of the IPCC is dubious and can be misused to mislead.

"Environmental activists use the 'big talk' of science to create a simple but false paradigm. Malaria specialists who protest this are generally ignored, or labeled as 'skeptics'. "

“Environmental activists use science to set up a simple but false paradigm. Malaria specialists who protest against this are usually hushed up or labeled as 'skeptics'. "

The UK government said that Reiter “does not exactly represent the current scientific debate on the effects of climate change in general, or malaria in particular. He seems to be very selective in his receipts. "

In the film The Great Global Warming Swindle , Reiter says of the IPCC's claim to represent the top 1,500 or 2,500 scientists that one only has to look at the résumés to see that it just isn't true. There were a considerable number of non-scientists among them.
