Pavo-Indus superclusters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pavo-Indus supercluster is a neighboring supercluster of the Virgo supercluster (in which the Milky Way lies). It contains three main galaxy clusters : Abell 3656, Abell 3698, and Abell 3742 .

Other groups and galaxy clusters in the supercluster are the NGC 6769 group and Abell S805 .

In 2014 it was announced that the Pavo-Indus supercluster is part of the large supercluster Laniakea , in which the center of the large attractor is located. The Virgo supercluster is also in this large supercluster, making it the local large supercluster.
