Paximadi (food)

Paximadi ( Greek παξιμάδι , plural paximadia ) refers to a multi-baked, very long-lasting bread that is widespread in Greece . This Greek " zwieback " is much harder than the usual one in Germany and can hardly be eaten without soaking. The multiple baked paximadi used to be available anywhere and anytime (for example from shepherds, fishermen and sailors). The barley bread is often seasoned with herbs or sesame and black cumin , and there are variations with nuts.
