Pelin ( Turkish for " wormwood ") is a Turkish and Kurdish female given name that also occurs as a family name . In the Kurdish (Indo-European) language, Pelin is written in the spelling Pêlîn and means 'blossom' - “leaves of a peace tree ”. There is also the name “Peline” in Kurdish. The famous bearer of the name is the Turkish actress Pelin Karanhan. The singer Nil Karaibrahimgil has a song called "Pelin" that is supposed to pay homage to this name. In the old German language, the name "Philine" or "Pauline" comes close to the name "Pelin" in terms of sound. Pelin is a popular, modern, rare and timeless name.
