Penola Island is a small island off the south coast of King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It's in Sherratt Bay .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped and named them in 1937. The Penola , one of the two ships of the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill , was named after the Penola in January 1937 missing survey team ran aground near King George Island.
