People's Orb

People's Orb (dt. About celestial bodies of the people , globe of people or people globe ) is a silver ball with a diameter of about 20 cm, which is a hard disk with a memory of 350 Gigabyte includes. It is part of the Earth Hour campaign , initiated by WWF , and is to be presented to the politicians there on the occasion of the 2009 UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. The aim of the campaign is to collect voices and opinions of all interested people in order to present them to the decision-makers of the conference. Andy Ridley, managing director of the campaign, says: "There is no global election at the moment, there is no way of actually counting votes from the whole of the planet saying yes or no, like a referendum on climate change" ("Currently there there is no global election, there is no way to actually count the yes and no votes of the entire planet, like in a referendum on climate change ") .

An identical copy is to be kept in the Danish National Museum as a time capsule .
