The Pera Museum ( Pera Müzesi ) is an art museum in Istanbul 's Tepebaşı district. It was founded in 2005 by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation (Suna Kıraç is the daughter of the Turkish industrialist Vehbi Koç ). The collection is housed in the former Bristol Hotel , which was designed by architect Achille Manoussos in 1893.

The collection and permanent exhibitions

The museum has three permanent exhibitions: the collection of Anatolian weights and measures; Kütahya tiles and ceramics as well as oriental art. The Oriental collection includes more than three hundred paintings, including works by European artists from the 17th to the early 19th centuries who were inspired by the Ottoman world.

Planned extension

The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation commissioned the architect Frank Gehry to build a new cultural complex on the grounds of the TRT headquarters in Tepebaşı. The planned complex is to be called Suna Kıraç Cultural Center ( Suna Kıraç Kültür Merkezi ).
