The period between the completed 22nd week of pregnancy and the 7th day after the birth is called the perinatal period .
Due to this period, which is particularly critical for the health of mother and child, perinatal medicine developed as a multidisciplinary collaboration between pediatricians , neonatologists , human genetics , obstetricians and anesthetists .
In ICD-10 , this is taken into account in Chapter XVI as "Certain conditions that have their origin in the perinatal period (P00-P96)".
