Perinatal Center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Perinatal centers (Greek perí  "around - around" and Latin natalis  "concerning the birth") are facilities in Germany for the care of premature and newborn babies . Decisive is an agreement the cost carrier with the providers , according to 1 § 137 Abs. Sentence 3, no. 2 SBG V .

conditions

The current agreement of January 1, 2006 stipulates the following requirements for perinatal centers:

  • Level 1 centers are run by accredited neonatologists and medical obstetricians and have a physically connected maternity ward , operating theater, and neonatal intensive care unit with at least six places. Among other things, you have a permanent doctor on call and a newborn emergency doctor for the neighboring departments. Particularly high-risk pregnancies, for example multiple pregnancies from three children, should only give birth in Level 1 centers.
  • Level 2 centers only have to provide four intensive care places for newborns with otherwise similar criteria. They should take care of simple high- risk births , such as twins , or gestures .
    • As of 2017, level 1 and 2 perinatal centers must provide a nurse for every premature baby in need of intensive therapy and for every two premature babies in need of intensive monitoring.
  • Perinatal focal points have facilities to treat sudden child emergencies from the normal operation of the maternity ward for a limited time. They are led by paediatricians and have ventilation places, but no special intensive care unit.
  • Normal maternity clinics should only care for pregnant women without risk factors and timely births. This is 90% of all births.

The departments provide evidence of the fulfillment of the prerequisites to the health insurances at the local nursing rate negotiations .

As of 2013, hospitals that are licensed to care for premature babies and newborns were able to make their results data available on a new Internet platform. These include statistics on the incidence of cerebral hemorrhages, retinal diseases, and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as mortality rates in premature babies. The new platform was prepared by the AQUA Institute on behalf of the G-BA , from 2015 all perinatal centers must publish their data.
