Permanent Committee on Geographical Names for British Official Use

The Permanent Committee on Geographical Names for British Official Use (PCGN) is a non-governmental working group established in Great Britain in 1919 to advise the British Government.

It lays down rules for the English spelling of geographical names for objects outside Great Britain (with the exception of Antarctica ) and in this context also provides rules for the transcription or transcription of languages ​​that use non-Latin writing systems in Latin .
