Permissivity (from the Latin permittere = to transfer, entrust or permissio = permission) is a sociological and psychological term that has also been used in other disciplines:

• In psychology and sociology, it stands for toleration, tolerance, an accepting attitude through which other people are allowed freedom in action. See permissivity (psychology)

• in pedagogy a term that cannot be clearly defined for the democratic style of upbringing , but also for the laissez-faire principle ("letting it happen"). See also permissive parenting
