The Inti was the official currency of Peru from February 1, 1985 to June 30, 1991 . It was divided into 100 céntimos . The ISO code was PEI .

Inti means "sun" in the Inca language Quechua and stands for the sun deity in Inca mythology .

The Inti was highly inflationary. The successor currency was the Nuevo Sol , with an exchange rate of 1 million Inti = 1 Nuevo Sol.

The Inti itself was the successor to the Sol de Oro , with an exchange ratio of 1000 Soles de Oro = 1 Inti.
