The Pesttor is a gate in Iphofen ( Bavaria ) that has been walled up since 1596 .

history

Iphofen was hit by the plague four times (1524, 1582–1586, 1611 and 1632) . Every night the plague dead were brought on a cart through this gate from the old town to the St. Martin cemetery outside, where they were buried in pits. The plague gate has been walled up since 1596.
