Peter DTA Elliott

Peter DTA Elliott (* 1941 ) is a British mathematician who deals with analytical number theory and probabilistic number theory. He is a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder .

A conjecture about the asymptotic error in the quantitative version of Dirichlet's prime number theorem (about prime numbers in arithmetic sequences) was made in 1968 by Elliott and Heini Halberstam ( conjecture by Elliott and Halberstam ). He is also considered a leading expert on probabilistic number theory, about which he wrote a standard monograph.

Elliott received his PhD in 1969 from the University of Cambridge with Hans Heilbronn (and Harold Davenport ) (Some Problems in Analytic Number Theory). Since 1971 he has taught at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
