Peter Gach

Peter Gach is a Polish pianist and music teacher.

Gach is a graduate of the Warsaw Conservatory. In addition to composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, he is particularly interested in the work of Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski . He gave several concerts in Szymanowski's house in Zakopane and played Charles Ives' First Piano Sonata live on Polish television .

He later went to the USA and worked as professor, pianist in residence and head of the Performing Arts Department at Palomar College in San Marcos / California. In 2011 he received the Comet Award from the Palomar College Foundation for his work here . He has published two books: Practice Makes Perfect: A Handbook for Musicians at Work and The Perfect Performance: A Handbook for Musicians on Stage .

Composers who composed works for him include Jim Weld , Mark Wessel , Sherman Storr , Norm Weston , William C. Bradbury , Madelyn Byrne, and Ellen Weller . He recorded some of these works for the album Fresh Piano with Inova Recordings . He also played compositions by Chopin and Scott Joplin . For his presentation of Chopin's works on his 200th birthday in 2010, which was recorded by Palomar College Television , he received first prize at the international Chopin in the XXIst Century Multimedia Competition .
