Peter Hirsch (politician)
Peter Hirsch (born April 13, 1915 in Pretul near Langenwang an der Mürz; † August 4, 1989 in Mürzzuschlag ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and ÖBB employee.
Life
Hirsch was born in 1915 in Pretul near Langenwang an der Mürz in Upper Styria. After completing primary school, he began an apprenticeship as a kit and hammer smith. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked as a forest worker and later as a postal worker before he was dismissed from civil service in 1938 for political reasons. After the end of the Second World War, Hirsch switched to the ÖBB as a train driver, at the same time he began to resume his political activities. On August 4, 1989, he died in Mürzzuschlag after a long and serious illness.
Political activity
From 1949 to 1957, Hirsch was a member of the Styrian state parliament. As a member of the Federal Council (ÖVP) he represented the interests of Styria from 1957 to 1965. (IX. Legislative period of the National Council). He also acted as a member of the central management of the railway workers' union. From 1945 to 1970 Hirsch was a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Mürzzuschlag, and from 1955 to 1970 he was deputy mayor.
In the period from 1955 to 1965 he carried out this office as a candidate for the ÖVP, from 1965 to 1970 as chairman of his list of names.
Hirsch made particular merits in connection with the establishment and construction of the Mürzzuschlag high school and in the area of housing subsidies.
