Peter Preuss

Peter Preuss (born December 8, 1953 in Düsseldorf ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since June 8, 2005 .

Life

Preuss graduated from elementary school in 1968 and then from 1968 to 1971 trained as a legal assistant. From 1971 to 1976 he worked as a paralegal and office manager. He then attended the Wilhelm-Heinrich-Riehl-Kolleg from 1976 to 1978, where he graduated from high school in 1978. He then completed a law degree at the University of Cologne by 1983 and has been an independent lawyer since 1986.

Preuß lives in Düsseldorf-Urdenbach, is married and has three grown children.

politics

Preuss has been a member of the CDU since 1973, for which he is currently deputy chairman of the CDU Düsseldorf. From 1985 to 1998 he was a member of the City Council of Düsseldorf, where he was chairman of the housing committee from 1989 to 1994 and chairman of the committee for planning and urban development from 1994 to 1998.

Preuss is the district chairman of the CDA district association Düsseldorf ( Christian-Democratic Workers' Union of Germany ).

Speech in plenary debate

Since June 8, 2005, Preuß has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for constituency 43 (Düsseldorf IV-Süd) (directly elected in 2005, 2010 and 2017, entry via the state list in 2012). He is a full member of the Committee for Labor, Health and Social Affairs, the Main Committee and the Parliamentary Investigative Committee I “Amri Case” as well as chairman of the Parliamentary Control Committee according to Section 23 of the Constitutional Protection Act of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2011 Preuß has been the spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group for work, health and social affairs.

Preuß has been chairman of the board of trustees of the Stiftung Wohlfahrtspflege NRW since 2017 and is involved on a voluntary basis as chairman of the Catholic foundation Marienhospital, Düsseldorf and as a member of the board of directors of the children's home and daycare center “St. Raphael ”, Düsseldorf.

In addition, Preuss is chairman of the supervisory boards of DWG Bau- und Betreuungsgesellschaft mbH, DWG eG and DWG Wohnen GmbH as well as a member of the supervisory board of Verbund Katholischer Kliniken Düsseldorf gGmbH (VKKD).
