Peter Schneider (born March 16, 1964 in Berlin ) is a former German swimming athlete who competed for the GDR.

Peter Schneider celebrated three GDR championship titles nationally. With the relay of his club SC Dynamo Berlin , he won his first title in 1980 with the 4-by-100-meter freestyle relay, in 1982 in Erfurt with both the 4-by-100-meter and 4-by-200 Meter freestyle relay. In addition, there was the runner-up title behind Jörg Woithe in the 50 meter freestyle route, which was held for the first time at the GDR championships, while Dirk Richter also pushed himself between Woithe and Schneider over 100 meters freestyle . Internationally, Schneider won the International Friendship Competition , the socialist counterpart to the European Youth Championships. In 1982 he also made it to the finals at a European Cup race with the GDR's 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay in Gothenburg .
