Peter Syr

Peter Syr (born August 26, 1945 in Haag in Upper Bavaria ) is a German exhibition maker , cultural manager and graphic designer.

Life

After training as a precision mechanic and working as an aircraft mechanic, he dealt intensively with the medium of film. In 1970 he co-founded the International Forum of Film Avant-garde in Munich. After various positions as a freelance camera assistant and cameraman, he joined the Filmmuseum of the Munich City Museum in 1974 and became Enno Patalas's assistant . From 1979 he was the first in the cultural department of the city of Munich staff of Heiner Zametzer build the socio-cultural neighborhood work (this development and organization of the district weeks , the Singats as well as disco mobile , the latter together with Thomas Gottschalk ). In 1982 Peter Syr became head of the exhibition organization under Christoph Stölzl in the Munich City Museum . From 1991 Syr worked as a freelance exhibition maker, cultural manager and graphic designer. He designed exhibitions in various cities. B. with works by Käthe Kollwitz , Tomi Ungerer and Michael Mathias Prechtl . In 2005 Peter Syr temporarily moved to Sweden and took on several cultural projects in Småland , e. B. Conception, organization and design of the bilingual exhibition Life in Småland - People in Kråkshult 1900 - 1930 . Syr has been working on a new concept for the exhibitions in the Bad Tölz City Museum since 2009. Following the city council's decision to redesign the city museum in Tölz (67 room units), Syr began implementing it with volunteers in 2010. In May 2011 the first phase of the redesign was officially opened; the work will continue over the next few years.
