Peter Tyrgilsson , also Petrus Torkilsson or Petrus Thyrgilli (* around 1300; † October 8 or 19, 1366 ) was a Swedish bishop and politician.

Tyrgilsson is first mentioned in 1320 as vicar in Färentuna . From 1340 he was Chancellor of King Magnus Eriksson . From 1342 he was also Bishop of Linköping . In this capacity he was a member of the three-person commission that checked and confirmed the authenticity of the revelations of St. Birgitta . Vadstena , in which the later saint built her monastery around 1346 on a crown property donated to her by the king, belonged to the Diocese of Linköping. In their revelations ( Revelationes , Book III, Chapters 12 + 13), on the other hand, the lax lifestyle of the bishop is explicitly addressed and he is urged to repent.

In 1351 Tyrgilsson was appointed Archbishop of Uppsala . He supported King Magnus II in the civil war, but went over to Albrecht von Mecklenburg when he became the new King of Sweden. He retained his offices until his death.
