The Peter Street is a street in the city center of Leipzig . It is one of the most frequented business streets in Eastern Germany.

Petersstrasse is 366 meters long and connects the market in a north-south direction with Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz . At its southern end was the Peterstor until 1860 and the eponymous Peterskirche until 1886 . To the south at the former Peterstor it was continued as Peterssteinweg . It was part of the Via imperii and central street of the surrounding Petersviertel .

Since the middle of the 19th century, the street has been shaped by a large number of trading and exhibition houses.

Petersstrasse is a pedestrian zone for almost its entire length.
