Petra Overzier
Petra Overzier (born March 8, 1982 in Cologne , married Petra Reichel ) is a German badminton player. Petra Reichel is a trained industrial clerk and studied sports and tourism management.
Athletic career
Petra Overzier won the German Junior Championship six times and the German Championship in women's singles twice. In 2003 she moved to the 1st BC Beuel , with whom she became German team champion in 2005. In the years in which she was only a finalist in the German championships in women's singles, she lost each time against Xu Huaiwen . In the period from January to August 2005, she took a break from badminton. In 2006 she became the first player to be born in Germany to win a medal at the Individual Badminton World Championships in Madrid in women's singles.
On February 1, 2007, she announced a career break because she was pregnant. In June 2007 Petra Reichel announced her wedding to Boris Reichel . On June 1, 2007, Petra Reichel followed her husband to 1. BV Mülheim in the association. Together with Michaela Peiffer, Gregory Schneider, Alexander Roovers, Steffen Hohenberg and Adrian Gevelhoff both rose to the 2nd Bundesliga North for the 2008/09 season.
Petra's younger sister, Birgit Overzier , is also a successful badminton player.
