history
The company was founded in 1981 in Tyler , Texas , USA as a manufacturer of modular systems. In the year it was founded, the company had 25 employees. In 1991, Ayman Asfari and Maroun Semaan joined the company and founded Petrofac International, an engineering-procurement-construction company based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
In 2012 Petrofac signed contracts with a total volume of USD 5 billion. Among others with Pemex, Saudi Aramco and Apache Corp.
In November 2013 Petrofac and the Italian oil company Bonatti Spa signed a joint venture agreement for a US $ 650 million project for Sonatrach .
