Ayman Asfari

Ayman Asfari (born July 8, 1958 in Syria ) is a British entrepreneur .

Life

Ayman Asfari, son of a Syrian diplomat, spent his childhood in Turkey and the Czech Republic . He is a British citizen who moved to the UK in 1991. He is married and has four sons.

Career

Ayman Asfari graduated from Villanova University, Pennsylvania with a BSc in civil engineering in 1979 and an MSc in civil and urban engineering in 1980 from the University of Pennsylvania . His career began in civil construction, first as an engineer for the Conser Consulting Group in Muscat , Oman , and then as managing director for a large construction group in Oman.

According to Forbes, Asfari is a billionaire and ranked 46th among the richest British people.

Petrofac

In 1991 Ayman Asfari became CEO of Petrofac International, a joint venture that he co-founded with the US company Petrofac. He later reorganized the group and became Group Chief Executive in 2002.

With just one engineering office in Sharjah ( United Arab Emirates ) and a small corporate office in London, Petrofac is an international service provider for the oil and gas production industry with around 18,000 employees. The diverse customer portfolio, which includes many of the world's leading integrated, independent and national oil and gas companies, is supported by employees from 80 nations who work in 31 offices worldwide.

Charity

In 2006, Ayman Asfari established the Asfari Foundation, a UK-based charity that funds education for young people so that they can in turn contribute to their societies. The foundation also supports initiatives that promote civil society and provide humanitarian aid.

In 2010, Asfari was named Ernst & Young UK Entrepreneur of the Year , and in 2011 and 2012 he was named Oil Service Provider of the Year at the World National Oil Company Congress.
