Petroleum Remediation Product

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Petroleum Remediation Product (PRP) is a material made from beeswax for the absorption of petroleum and other hydrocarbons . These are tiny wax bubbles that are able to absorb hydrocarbon compounds. It was in the early 1990s by the US company Petrol Rem together with researchers from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Marshall Space Flight Center of NASA developed. It is mentioned as an advantage that as soon as the crude oil is bound, the wax and the oil are absorbed by naturally occurring microorganisms and converted into other substances (CO 2 and water).
