In October 1455, Petru assured the Polish king of his allegiance and reaffirmed his father's trading privilege granted in 1408 for Polish traders.

In 1456 Petru was ready to pay the Ottomans a tribute payment of 2000 Galbeni (Rum. For "yellow", ie guilders) in order to counter the danger of a Turkish occupation. In April 1457, however, he was beaten twice by Bogdan's son, Stefan (later Stefan the Great , Rum. Ștefan cel Mare ) and had to flee to Poland and later to the Szekler region in Transylvania . From there he constantly provoked hostility between Stefan and the Hungarian ruler Matthias Corvinus . After the Battle of Baia (1467), in which Stefan defeated the King of Hungary, Stefan let the Moldovan army invade the Szekelerland in 1469 under the leadership of the great sword bearer Philip Pop in retaliation for the exile granted to Petru Aron. During this campaign, he was captured and executed.
