The Pfaffenstraße is a street in Lübeck .

The approximately 80 meter long Pfaffenstrasse is located north of the center of the old town island in the Jakobi quarter . It runs in a west-east direction and connects the Breite Straße , where it begins opposite the confluence of the Beckergrube , with the Königstraße , which it meets opposite the Glockengießerstraße at the Katharinenkirche .
history
Pfaffenstrasse was first mentioned in a document in 1331 with the mixed Low German - Latin name Dwerstrate, qua itur ad sanctum Katharinam (cross street that runs near St. Katharinen). 1364 the name is Pape Strate occupied, which is just like the Latin name used 1,397 platea clericorum against clergy ( priests moved) because the road to the Lübeck Franciscans - Monastery led. In 1852 Pfaffenstraße near St. Catharinen was established as the official street name, but in 1884 it was shortened to the current version.
To this day, the street shows a largely closed picture of historical buildings, predominantly with classicist facades from the 18th and 19th centuries.
